About Chuikhim Darjeeling


Chuikhim is a village in Kalimpong sub-division of Darjeeling district, W.B. in Himalaya. It is 70km away from s/d Headquarter of Kalimpong . This village has mind boggling gifts of nature but it is one of those most backward village where children have to walk 28kms daily  they dreams to have High School education, question of moderate modern facility does not arise.

Marketing avenue Odalabari in Jalpaiguri district and Siliguri.

HealthCenter At Bagrakote, nearly 18km away.
School One Primary school, one junior high school
Tourism 15 home stays are there out of it seven are really good. Some of them has attached toilet facilities.
Communication: No concrete road is there for communication. One way road connects this village to Bagrakote in the plane and to Lolegaon, a famous tourist spot in the hills. (Road is under construction will be completed by October,2012)
Mobile connectivity Very poor
Access: Nearest railway station/ airport are NJP and Bagdogra. There is no regular transport available from NJP/ Bagdogra  to Bagrakote (40kms from NJP) Nearest Highway point which is 14 km away from Chuikhim . Hire personal transport (Jeep) from Bagdogra/ NJP Fare from NJP: Rs2500/ one way. But from Siliguri Bus stand which is well connected with NJP Rly. station one can get a bus or Jeep upto Bagrakot or Odlabari from that point upto Chuikhim system of local transport is very poor.

Stay& Food: In home-stay cottages. Rs 600/head/day; book in advance as there are only few cottages available.

Best Season: October-November and February-April.

Activities: Visitors can trek around the village trail and in the forest. There are excellent opportunities for bird-watching. Lolegaon (23 kms) and Samtahar (25kms) are nearby tourist spots.
